Within a span of very short time Guwahati has become the hub of some fine dining places, cool cafes, club/lounge, bakeries, multi-cuisines restaurants. I feel very good about it, being a food lover I am always in search of new places which can offer me something different and interesting on my plate. Some of the places attracts me for its beautiful ambiance, some for its locations and some because I visit it too often that I feel it’s the best option. But the one thing that is very important for me when I select a good place for eating is its menu and the food. All thanks to the various smartphone applications from where I can select the place and check through its menu before visiting. Thus since past two to three years one is spoiled for choices in Guwahati. At the end it is the food and the overall experience that matters the most to me.

Terra Maya’s AMALTAS- a new destination for food lovers in Guwahati

It was just last Monday, the 12th of Feb, when I was fighting with Monday Blues that a phone call instantly charged up my taste buds. A phone call to invite me at the new menu launch of Terra Maya’s AMALTAS. Terra Maya is a very popular eating destination for Guwahatians. They have three eating areas one in the lounge, on the terrace and the restaurant. Now they have come up with a new addition named AMALTAS. Its located in the same place next to Terra Maya main restaurant. They have come up with a complete different and quite unique, I must say menu.

The interior is beautiful with vintage lights and potted plants, very cozy and with a seating capacity of 42 persons at a time, the interiors dominate the main dining area and makes it a perfect place to eat and relax.

Cocktails and Mocktails

For the drinks we had Jameson Irish wiskey and cocktails called ‘Jameson Ginger Ale and Lime’; Whiskey Sour which was my personal favorite. We also had a very cool ambassador all the way from Ireland who told us a lot about Irish Whiskey. Jameson which is very smooth and easy to digest. It is triple distilled tastes so good in whiskey cocktails. Its one thing I am sure your family and friends would love to drink, especially the cocktails sildentadal.com.

There are lot more to select from the menu which is quite interesting when it comes to drinks – they have Sweet Lassi ,Aampanna Mojito, etc. also presenting a twist called Spiked Chuski which includes drinks such as Aampanna with vodka and chat masala and many other such fusion drinks.

All about Food and the Menu

Now coming to food, the fusion is same here- the menu serves various kinds of Indian ethnic dishes along with the continental counterparts. There are large food platters to small plates. Some of the dishes that I recommend are Kolkata beetroot chops, mixed tandoori wild mushrooms and broccoli, Lime leaf chilly chicken, Konkan style pork ribs, zucchini rolls, chicken 65, flaming tandoori chicken, duck rolls. For the main course we selected to taste Shephers’s Pie, Chicken Biryani, malabar paratha. For desserts I liked The Terra Misu and New York Blueberry cheesecake. Some items which I am going to try the next time is Bombay Keemapao, a fusion dish named Southern Bhuna Meat Tacos and Litti Chokha.

They have amazingly maintained the Indian flavors with a twist. Do try the Pizzas, Dimsums and Sushi. Being a crazy pizza lover I liked the Chicken Sausage Jalapenos Red Onion pizza, it tasted heavens.

So that was all, I wanted to try a few more dishes but I guess you can understand the reason, I was so full that even a spoonful of an item looked like too much for me. I recommend the places. The items are also fairly priced and not that rough on your pocket. The location is also very proper and easily reachable and well connected by various modes of communication. Sharing some pictures below of the various dishes we tasted in Amaltas at Guwahati.
