After few hectic months since our last vacation in Jaipur in the month of February, we had again started longing for a break from the mundane duties of home, job, growing up a toddler etc. Mr Husband was not in a mood to travel and neither was I so it had to be some nearby place for relaxation. Â After much speculation, we decided upon the Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay Mamallapuram or Mahabalipuram https://www.radissonblu.com/en/hotel-mamallapuram
It was the last moment decision so we could not get a booking for Saturday and Sunday. However, we got our bookings done for Sunday and Monday from www.yatra.com. Needless to say, we got the best deals with the best of online assistance.
Just about a stone through away from Pondicherry, at about 100kms is the beach resort located on 44 acres. Ah! What a breathtaking view it was as we entered. A pure tropical escapade. We had booked a chalet for the three of us. As we reached the resort it was a warm welcome with a nice chilled glass of iced tea and shell garlands. The ecstasy on the face of the little one was something to be captured.
We got our room keys and then we took a buggy ride to our room accompanied by the service guy who came to show us our room. The room was a spacious one, neat and clean as per the standard of a five-star property. However, I felt the furnishing could have been better. It looked very old. After a quick fresh up we headed towards the restaurant for the hi-tea which was a complimentary one. There are a lot of activities in the resort to make your time more enjoyable. We opted for a cycle ride. It was enjoyable. There are numerous other play activities for the kids and massage and spa services for the adults.Â
Later in the evening, we headed for the pool. The kid was scared of the water but after some persuasions he agreed and then it was never ending time spent in the pool. He refused to get out even after 2 hrs. But somehow we managed to get him out. The weekend was meant to be a relaxing one and we made sure it was, far away from the maddening crowd of the city life. The beauty around us was so enthralling. Properly planed with lush green trees all around, sweet-smelling flowers, the sound of birds and beetle. Everything was so relaxing and to top that was the breeze and the sound of the sea, it seemed to have filled our soul.
Later at night dinner was at the Wharf restaurant as we had opted to check out the ala carte menu. Food was good and worth the money spent. The best part was the outdoor sitting arrangement. Having the food with the musical sound of the sea and the breeze took it to a different level. Ah! How I wish to reverse the time right now.
Anyways, after the good food, we took a stroll around the resort and then retired for the night in our cosy bed. Next morning breakfast was complimentary and it consisted of a huge array of choices catering to the requirement of everybody taste buds.
