So how’s the quarantine life going on, friends? We had seen enough of Netflix or Prime Videos done a lot of cooking, DIYs, cleaning and other kinds of stuff. Even after channelling our inner energies in various ways we still find ourselves to be stressed out and demotivated. For that, I think movies can play like an effective mood lifter. You can get cost, put on your favorite PJ’s, grab yourself a glass of wine or a hot chocolate and settle down for a few hours. There are so many different genres of movies to choose from so there’s always something that can lift someone’s spirits and make them feel good. After reading plenty of movie lists and even thinking of my own favorites, I have conjured up a list of my top 30 feel-good movies to watch this quarantine.
Just like on bad days, a good movie can really cheer you up, why not do the same this quarantine? There were many times when I have watched and re-watched a movie just because I was feeling low and guess what it works so fine with me. Not just me I am sure with everyone it does. Of course, you don’t have to rewatch the same movies. There are so many movies out there that people need to watch, so they should start searching online to find some other streaming sites. Hopefully, this will result in so many more movies to watch. Perhaps some people could even consider watching these movies on a bigger screen to make their movie days even better. Mini projectors are perfect for displaying any movie on the wall of your comfort zone. Hopefully, this will make movie days more enjoyable.
A good movie can make you feel good
A movie is something that makes us feel good, we love to dream and relate to everything that is happening onscreen, it takes us to another world. As such it’s a great way to escape to a different plane where we are free to feel and think as we want. But making a list of Best feel-good movies worthy of rewatching this quarantine, it can be really overwhelming as the list is too big and taste may also vary from person to person.
But what I have decided to list down the top 30 movies that will surely boost your motivation and also live your mood and make you feel good this quarantine. Even making a list of my favourite feel-good movies worthy of rewatching this quarantine can be exhausting because the list is too huge. But I do love movies that are soul-touching and also movies that are fun, that’s what we want at this moment, isn’t it?
My list of feel-good movies both from Bollywood and Hollywood
1. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011)
Definitely, it has to be number one. I have lost count how many time I have watched this movie. There is adventure, thrill, love and all the Bollywood masala you need. It shows how three best friends since their school days embark on a road trip as a Bachelor Trip across Spain as one of them was getting married. Each of them selects various adventurous activities to do and the others can’t deny. The adventures change their perspective of seeing life.
2. Queen (2013)
Yes, indeed my favourite a feel-good movie to watch this quarantine and I am sure even yours too. It shows how Kangana Ranaut who plays the role of Rani, a girl when left behind by her fiance just before her marriage decided to go on her pre-planned honeymoon alone and her life changes. It changes her as a person and as a woman.
3. The Lunchbox (2013)
An unusual friendship that develops between a woman named Ila who sends her husband tiffin and by mistake the tiffin reaches another man Saajan Fernandes working in a different office. If you haven’t watched it yet I highly recommend it. One of the finest movie of Late Irfan Khan who has left behind a legacy of feel-good movies to watch and a way through which he shall stay alive in our hearts.
4. Chupke Chupke (1975)
Old is Gold, always and this movie is no exception. I have all my favourite stars in it. Yet another romantic comedy that shows how Sulekha played by Sharmila Tagore wants to prove before her husband Professor Parimal Tripathi played by Dharmendra that how smart and intelligent is her Jijaji (brother-in-law) Then a series of lies and humour that follows is worth enjoying this quarantine.
5. Khatta Meetha (1978)
Yet another movie from the by-gone era that shows the marriage between Homi Mistri a widower and Nargis a widow. Homi has 4 sons and Nargis 3 but they are all grown-ups and later had to adjust together and the way things turn out is full of fun and entertainment. The 2010 movie Golmaal 3 is an adaptation of this 1978 Basu Chatterjee’s movie Khatta Meetha.
6. English Vinglish (2012)
The most beautiful and talented Late Sridevi showed the real capacities and determination that a woman can in this movie. The character Shashi played by her is mocked and ridiculed by her husband and daughter because she can’t talk in English. Later she visits New York to attend her niece’s marriage and learns English there and also sets an example that a woman can do anything she wants and there is nothing that can stop her.
7. Yeh Jaawani Hain Deewani (2013)
I doubt there is any single individual in our country who would say I don’t like this movie. My love for travelling was triggered after I watched this movie. It shows how four friends travel to Manali for trekking and their life changes eventually they realised ab hum bacche nahi rahe (We are no longer kids). It’s an ultimate mood lifter movie for this quarantine.
8. Barfi (2012)
Barfi reminds me of Darjeeling and shifts me to my days there. It tells the story of charming, funny and optimistic deaf and dumb boy Murphy played by Ranbir Kapoor and an autistic girl Jhilmil played by Priyanka Chopra.
It’s a beautiful story that involves both these two and Shruti played by Ileana D’Cruz who fell in love with Murphy and later regrets her decision of not holding on to that love. It’s a soul-stirring movie and one of favourite to date.
9. Wake up Sid (2009)
Another Ranbir Kapoor movie and one of my favourite too. I really liked the chemistry between him and Konkona Sen. It shows how a spoilt brat moves out of the house of his rich parents after a heated argument and starts living with a women bit older than him. Eventually, he gets to know about life and responsibilities.
10. Bheja Fry (2011)
A comedy-drama starring Vinay Pathak who played the character of Bharat Bhusan a tax inspector. It had two sequels Bheja Fry 1 and 2 but I liked the first one more. The trouble starts when Ranjeet played by Rajat Kapoor invites Bharat to his house and the mess that is created. It’s full of comedy and a lot of drama.
11. Dear Zindagi (2016)
This Alia Bhatt and Sharukh Khan starer movie is yet another one set in Goa where Kiara (Alia) a heartbroken girl with troubled childhood seeks out Dr Jehangir Khan a psychologist and learns the real facts of life and relationships and the way to look at it. It transforms her and she comes out as a successful short filmmaker.
12. Fukrey (2013)
Indeed one of the best movies by Richa Chadda, I like this badass woman. It tells the story of how four guys intend to make easy money and get admission in a college and for that approaches Bholi Devi played by Richa and lands up in a big mess. It’s how they come out of it all clean. Amidst this on-going trend of remakes, this Bollywood movie had a fresh story and will keep you engaged until the end.
13. Gol Maal (1979)
A movie from the yesteryears and a classic. Amazing songs and star cast this is one of the best comedy film ever produced. It shows how an employee (Amon Palekar) lied and went for watching a Hockey match.
After getting caught by his employer played superbly by Utpal Dutta while watching the match eventually gets himself in a trap of lies and how he includes a lot of people to support his story.

A cute small-town story of Bitti (Kriti Sanon) from Bareilly, who wants to marry a guy who accepts her the way she is. Then one day she runs off her house to reduce her parents’ troubles. In the railway station, she buys a book and finds the author has written about a girl who resembles her in many ways. Thus she begins to search the author and ends up finding real love. Lot’s of humour and comedy it’s a must-watch the movie.
15. Love Aaj Kal (2009)
Two simultaneous love stories one from the present times and another in the past days and how both shows couples divided by distance and their career. It’s not one of those traditional love stories. You need to look beyond and get into the depth of the story shown.

Once again a novel adapted into a movie. It tells how two seriously ill patients Augusts and Hazel meet at a cancer support group and become friends. They both embark on a journey to Amsterdam in search of an author. Two beautiful souls fulfilling their dreams in their brief span of life. You must read the book too.

An Audrey Hepburn movie and my favourite too. Just watched it a day ahead and trust me it’s definitely one of those feel-good movies.
