Top 20 travel photographs that I clicked this year!

So we have finally reached the end of the year. The is the time of resolutions, retrospections and recollections. The best thing that I love at this time of the year is to look back into my blog and what I have posted and written for you all. Last year too I did a round-up post of the Top 7 Seven Places that I have visited in the year 2017. But this time I have decided to bring up top 20 photographs that I have clicked this year. It will be a little different as a lot has happened in my life and I didn’t get much time to travel.

My mother was not well, my husband too got transferred to a different city. As a result, I got a chance to explore a new place. Will do a round-up post of my top travel photographs which will be like a photo journey of the year 2018. All the travel photographs are collected from my blog posts and I shall also link the related post for you to read. The photographs will tell a tale of all the interesting things that I have done this year. So, let’s just begin:-

This year began with a wonderful trip to NA LA RI a lovely resort in Meghalaya where we spent a weekend with friends. It was a long drive and then we also got a chance to explore the village and interact with some locals. There was also a beautiful waterfall and we did a little bit of trekking to reach it. The trip ended on a very happy note.

Then came Manas Spring Festival organised at Manas National Park and my first outdoor event. It was a wonderful opportunity where I got a chance to meet some fabulous bloggers from all over the country and abroad. Also got a chance to meet Kalyan Karmakar, writer and owner of the blog at FINELY CHOPPED and whose book The Travelling Belly has won people’s heart. It was a wonderful chance meeting him on the first day and also watching famous chef Gautam Mehrishi cooking with some local herbs and ingredients a popular dish from the Boro Cuisine called Onla. The next day began with a jeep safari into the wild with fellow bloggers. This event was like a window to the blogging world outside, as I got a chance to interact with so many established travel blogger. Among all, there were two persons who won my heart. They were Debjani and Madhurima whom I met and now I am so deeply connected with them, it’s like a friendship forever.

After Manas Spring Festival my next destination was Bhutan. I have absolutely no words to describe the beautiful kingdom. Bhutan is such a beautiful place that you need to visit at least once in a life. The valleys, the mountains, the rivers, the architecture and the beautiful landscape tells a different tale.

Hiking to the Tiger’s Nest in Paro is one of the most adventurous things I ever did. It’s was a long cherished dream to visit the monastery. Sharing some of the best photographs that I took in Bhutan and which also received much appreciation in my Instagram. After I returned from Bhutan, I got busy with the mundane affairs of my life. In the month of July, we were planning to visit my sister who stays in Pondicherry when my mother suddenly fell sick and we had to rush her to the hospital. The whole month went nursing her, so a visit to Pondicherry got cancelled and instead my sister had to visit us here in Guwahati.

On 8th August my husband let to join his new office at Kolkata and I accompanied him to the new city for helping him to set up his home. After that, I started visiting Kolkata whenever I got any holidays from work. I did not want to leave this chance of exploring a new city and its surroundings. I visited some of the best places in Kolkata and also visited Bolpur, the land of Rabindranath Tagore and his Shantiniketan. I am yet to write the blog posts on Bolpur but I have shared lots of photographs and stories in my Instagram account.

Also I arranged a photoshoot and photo walk into Kolkata’s famous lanes of Kumartuli where Durga Idols are made for the festival. I saw the artisans create the beautiful Durga idols like they are performing some sort of magic. You can read all about my experience in the post mentioned below.

My last travel destination this year was our very own Kaziranga National Park. It was a weekend drive to Golaghat at our friend’s house and then on the way back a thrilling adventure at the National Park. Along with lots of huge rhinoceroses, deer, wild buffaloes, wild boar, elephants, lots of migratory birds we spotted a royal Bengal tiger. He looked straight into our eyes and I took some photographs with my camera.

Though blurred yet the photos are very very special as that was the first time I spotted a tiger in the wild. It is also a very rare sight to spot a tiger as the forests of Assam are very dense. This was my fourth jungle safari in the forests of Assam and each time we returned with a heavy sight as we could not spot a single cat in the wild. So this safari was very special.

Thus how the year is about to end on a very happy note and all that I am doing is sitting back and looking at the wonderful time I spent with my loved ones. It’s the love and affection of our dear ones that make each year so special and so warm. Each year we set our goal but it’s up to us how much we could accomplish and even though we could not succeed the time is still there as the popular saying goes “It’s better late than never”. So we should never lose hope and keep trying to reach our goals. Let’s set new goals for the coming year too and try our best to achieve it.
